Take Me to Australia 2024: Alison Charles’ Incredible Journey

Alison Charles, the 2024 winner of InfoTrack's ‘Take Me to Australia’ competition, recounts her unforgettable journey.

Each year, InfoTrack’s ‘Take Me to Australia’ competition provides one lucky winner and a companion with the chance to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. For 2024’s winner, Alison Charles, a Commercial Property Paralegal from KWW Solicitors, the trip exceeded all expectations.

Alison found out she had won on an unforgettable Valentine’s Day. "When we got back, our receptionist said that somebody from InfoTrack had phoned. She said, 'Oh, that competition you entered, you've won it.' I thought, 'I didn't enter a competition.' When I realised what it was that I’d won, I was on cloud nine.”

For Alison, the trip to Australia was more than just a holiday. It was an opportunity to spend quality time family whilst exploring some of the most iconic sites the country has to offer. Alison chose to take one of her nieces as her plus one, and together they met up with another niece of Alison’s who lives in Bondi.

Reflecting on this, Alison shared, "I think I was just so lucky. I hadn't seen my niece who lives in Australia in a while, so that was such a highlight. It was just like the cherry on the cake, being able to spend time with them both."

Once all together, they made sure to make the most of every moment. "People keep asking me, 'What was your favourite bit?' But every single day, we just did not stop. We literally saw everything there was to see in Sydney. The hotel was fantastic too."

Sydney, the first stop on their itinerary, was a whirlwind of activity. "We literally went for brunch at Bondi, did a two-hour walk along the Coast, then checked into the hotel, went down to the Harbour, had lunch at the Opera House Bar.”

"It was just amazing," Alison says. "My niece who works in Sydney obviously knew all the best places to go. She was like our tour guide," She continues.

The adventure didn’t stop in Sydney. Next, Alison and her nieces flew to Uluru for a few days of breathtaking exploration. "We went on the sunrise bus, which we got up at 4:00 in the morning for. We did a hike through the Olgas, and then we walked all around Uluru, and went for a traditional Australian barbecue at sunset.”

After their time in Uluru, the group flew to Port Douglas, a tropical paradise of sun, sea, and sand. While there, they enjoyed a glass-bottom boat trip as well as snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef to explore the vibrant marine life.

Reflecting on her entire adventure, Alison summed it up in the most fitting way possible: "Was it called the ‘Trip of a Lifetime’? Because it was. It fulfilled its expectations and more. We just had the best time. I'm so glad."

InfoTrack is thrilled to have made this dream trip a reality for Alison, and we can’t wait to see where next year’s winner will venture!
